4 Ways To Boost Your Confidence...Today!

Written By: Shannon Boyce

Confidence. It often eludes us. Why does it seem like such a far-off concept? We are constantly bombarded with reasons to give into self-doubt. Slim Your Waist! Lose 5 Pounds By Friday! The Best Anti-Wrinkle Cream On The Market! How To Be More Attractive! The examples are endless. Everywhere we turn there are headlines desperate to nab our attention. To erase our good moods. To make us feel small. Big businesses actually want women to feel that they are not good enough. That feeling makes us buy magazines and purchase an endless array of products. But it is time to take our confidence back. It is time to love and accept who we are. Ready to get started? Here are 4 ways to boost your confidence...today.

     1) Take Time And Do Something Small For Yourself

Life gets busy. It often feels hectic, stressful, and overwhelming. These days? Our to-do lists seem to grow and grow and grow some more. No wonder most of us ignore our needs. We rarely pamper ourselves or devote time to the things we want to do. Instead, we focus on work and responsibilities. This makes us feel like we are not important. Guess what? Everyone is important! So this is your challenge for today. Take some time for yourself. Read for a half hour, go workout, paint your nails, do a face mask, take a bubble bath. Whatever activity makes you feel good...do it! You will instantly feel better about yourself.

     2) Search For And Recite Positive Mantras

Over the last little while? Mantras have become a very important part of my day. They allow me to connect with my inner self. To put my life into focus. If you want to boost your confidence? Look up some positive mantras (Some examples: "There is always something to be thankful for," and "I am in charge of how I feel and today I am choosing happiness.") There are plenty of examples online as well as full books dedicated to positive mantras. Or you could always write down your own. Recite them when you wake up in the morning and before bed at night. You will feel amazing about yourself.

     3) Do One Small And Simple Good Deed

It is tried, tested, and true. Doing good things for other people makes you feel good. Today? Aim to do one small good deed. It can be anything! Like holding open a door, helping someone cross the street, returning a lost cell phone, or being a shoulder to cry on. It could even be messaging an old friend and asking them about their day. Being kind and generous to other people is always a good thing. It will make you feel happy and proud all day long.

     4) Stand Up Straight And Smile!

Slouching happens. Many of us tend to hunch over our computers, cell phones, and electronic devices. This does little to make us feel strong and powerful. Try standing up straight today. Pretend an invisible rope is pulling your head upwards. Pull your shoulders back. Keep your neck tall. Not only will proper posture make you look more confident...but you will feel more confident as well. It is also important to smile. Smiling (even when you do not feel like smiling) has been proven to boost your mood.
