Revamping Your Spring Wardrobe On A Budget

Written By: Shannon Boyce

Is money on your mind? Trust me, you are not alone. As amazing as the spring and summer months can be... they can also be pretty hard on the wallet. Suddenly everyone wants to grab drinks after work, head downtown for a concert, or hang out at the mall. There go all of those hard-earned savings! Prepare yourself for a little good news. Just because money is tight doesn't mean your wardrobe has to suffer. There are plenty of budget friendly ways to revamp your style this spring. Here are a few of my favourites.

Get To Know What You Actually Have. Okay, I admit it. One of my worst habits is not wearing the clothes in my closet. Why? I tend to forget what I have and stick to the same pieces over and over again. The best way to avoid this is to take stock of what you have. Take a moment now to go through your closet as well as your drawers. Physically see what you have to work with. From leggings to jeans to shorts, skirts, dresses, tank tops, and blouses. Go through it all. Knowing what you have to choose from will help you make the most of your existing wardrobe.

Head To Your Local Thrift Store. Who said great fashion has to be expensive? Just think outside of the box. Instead of heading to a department store or shopping online (those shipping costs can be totally outrageous) go to your local thrift store. If you are willing to go through the overstuffed racks of clothes...you can score big. Imagine bringing home a cute new dress for just a few dollars. Or taking a risk on a new style or trendier piece. You never know what you might find at the thrift store!

Re-Purpose Old Pieces In Your Wardrobe. You already went through your closet. When you did... were there any pieces that looked kind of lackluster? Change them up. This is your chance to give those old pieces a DIY makeover. Change the neckline of that old band t-shirt, shorten the hemline of that denim skirt, or dye that plain white dress a vibrant purple. There are so many ways to get creative! Not sure where to start? Look online for tutorials or videos. They are a great starting off point.

Mix and Match Your Clothes In New Ways. It happens. When you have an outfit that looks good, you tend to wear it over and over again. It is simple, quick, and easy. But not always inspiring. To revamp your wardrobe this spring, mix and match your clothes in new and exciting ways. You can rock print on print, get playful with colour blocking, or just try doing something different. These small changes can have a big impact on your style and your confidence!

Great style is priceless. So... don't get discouraged this season. These simple tips and tricks will help you look amazing. Even on a budget! Simply make the most of what you've got, go thrifting, DIY old pieces, and change up your outfits.

I am a huge thrifter and have managed to score some awesome (Vera Wang, Guess, La Chatue) stuff when I take my time to look!
